Due to a prolonged financial crisis, the Vocations Office at the Diocese of Gallup struggles to educate the seminarians, let alone build a local seminary. Sending students to other seminaries can cost $20,000 per annum.
In 2014, the Vocations Director, Fr. Matthew Keller, had the idea to combine his love of classic cars with his mission to support seminarians. Almost immediately, a friend noticed a Chevelle Super Sport in need of restoration. This is the beginning of the V8s for Vocations.
Chevelle was raffled, and Firebird comes along. This total restoration involves the hands of many people: the seminarians, Knights of Columbus, local mechanics and car enthusiasts,
From thousands of tickets you have bought, we are able to send our seminarians to study. Here is an example. Deacon Mitchell Brown, recently ordained to diaconate, is now studying in Rome and just had the privilege to read the Gospel at a Papal Mass. We're thrilled.
